A visit to South Africa's smallest National Park is very rewarding...

 

 


     
 

Bontebok National Park is about 6km from Swellendam town centre and is well worth a visit.

Here you can see Cape Mountain Zebra and Bontebok (a species of antelope) - both protected. View the large variety of plants and wild flowers (the best time is in April).


 



 
 

At the entrance to the park stop at Information and collect a map.  If you want to stretch your legs you could follow the 'Aloe Trail' - a short scenic hike skirting the banks of the Breede river.
